What is the proper Reddiquette on HOW to share your own links?
Main Post:
I understand from reading the Reddiquette page that it's generally considered okay to share links to your own articles, blog posts, videos etc, as long as they are relevant to the sub and that this is not your main participation on the site (the 9 to 1 ratio). But I'm not clear on the preferred way to share your own content:
Share it like any other link, without comment?
Share it as a link post but then immediately add a comment which says it's your content?
Create a text post saying something like "I made x thing, hope you like it" and then add your link in the body of the post?
Or does the etiquette vary from sub to sub?
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.
Top Comment: Most subreddits tell you what they require on link posts, for example, some that allow you to share news articles will specifically state you need to include the headline, unedited of the news article with your link. Generally just use your own common sense with it, if you're linking to content that belongs to you, best to tell people that. Some examples (replacing "my/this thing with what your content is, obviously): "Here's a link to 'my thing' I wanted to share 'this thing' I created. 'Context about subject' So here is a link to 'my thing.' As I mentioned, some subs require specific information with links, so you're best reading the rules of that sub to see if there's anything mentioned. Remember that some subreddits don't allow links, some don't allow certain domain links (for example, onlyfans links and social media links) and there are a lot of blacklisted URL domains on Reddit's system too, such as URL shortener links etc etc etc.
New Product News?
Main Post:
After much research, I plan on converting my home network over to TP-Link Omada in a matter of weeks once fiber is finally hooked up to my house. I plan on purchasing their router, 1 AP, and a switch or 2 at the moment.
I'm just curious if TP-Link has released official dates of any new products that I should consider before pulling the trigger on my network and buying everything since I'd hate to miss out on any new and improved products that I didn't know existed. Is there any site that could help me with this?
Top Comment: Unless you are in a rush, then I would wait. This is actually the worst time of the year to purchase new networking products. The best time is a couple of weeks before Black Friday when inventory is high and there are specials that are sometimes better than what you can find on Black Friday. Also new Omada stuff is scheduled to come out that will include support for WiFi 6e if that is important to you. If you search this community, there is a video presentation with the new products.
